We provide the volunteers with accommodation, meals, and local transport during their stay in Sri Lanka.
Our homestay accommodation is carefully selected to provide volunteers with a friendly family environment. Volunteers will have their separate rooms in the house of either a teacher at the village school or a traditional village leader. Our host families will care for our volunteers like their own children. This "Home Away from Home" experience is an important feature of our program. The host families will even invite volunteers to participate in family functions, village festivals, or visits to local places of worship such as churches or Buddhist temples. Through this homestay program, we aim to promote international understanding, friendship, and goodwill through cultural and volunteer exchanges. 'Nagenahiru' believes that the best way to develop friendship and understanding among nations is to have direct exposure to different cultures, languages, and customs of people by living with them.
Our experienced coordinator will ensure that volunteers are safe and happy throughout their stay and will see to the concerns raised by the volunteers.
Our volunteers will be provided with three home-cooked meals per day. The host families will prepare delicious meals for the volunteers, and the volunteers will dine together with their host families.
Transportation for the volunteers will be provided by 'Nagenahiru Volunteers'. We will arrange for private air- conditioned vehicles to pick up volunteers from the airport upon arrival and departure. We will also provide private transport in modern air-conditioned vehicles for all project-related travel during the volunteers' stay with us. The 'Nagenahiru Volunteers' will make all transportation arrangements in this regard.
